Three-star QB eyeing UNLV after visit

By Damon Sayles

Three-star quarterback Connor Feist (Houston/Langham Creek) might be close to a commitment, particularly after a productive weekend in Las Vegas -- his first time in the city.

Feist visited UNLV and said he enjoyed the campus experience. Feist has a UNLV offer, and Rebels fans are hoping the 6-foot-3, 200-pound senior becomes commit No. 11 and the first quarterback commit of the 2013 recruiting class.

“I really liked it out there,” Feist said. “It was my first time, so I was trying to take it all in. I really enjoyed the campus. It’s kind of small, but I like all the people out there. The coaches and academics are great. I can definitely see myself at a place like that.”

Feist has no other official visits scheduled for now, and members of the UNLV coaching staff will be in Houston for an in-home visit with Feist on Tuesday. Will Feist commit to the Rebels?

“We’ll see,” he said. “I know that they only have two quarterbacks on the roster, so that’d be a good situation for me to be in. There’s a possibility of me getting redshirted, but that’s nothing I’m going to worry about.”

Feist threw for 3,425 yards and 27 touchdowns, and he also rushed for 259 yards and 11 touchdowns during his senior year. He led Langham Creek two rounds deep in the Texas Class 5A Division II playoffs. Feist’s player host on his official visit was kicker Nolan Kohorst, who is from the greater Las Vegas area.
