Elite programs interested in 2014 Ohio RB
By Jared Shanker
Some of the country's biggest programs have sat down in Larry Cox's office at West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West. Many will be back again this month and again in April and May.
Junior running back Mikel Horton already holds offers from Indiana and Kentucky, and Cox said Horton's potential suitors goes far outside the Midwest.
"Florida State has contacted me," Cox said. "LSU is going to come see him in the spring."
Oklahoma is another program Cox said is interested in Horton.
Florida State offered Cox's senior tackle Kyle Meadows, and Oklahoma hosted Meadows for a visit. LSU signed Spencer Ware out of Cincinnati, so each of those three programs is no stranger to recruiting the Queen City.
At 6-foot-1 and 228-pounds, Horton is one of the region's bigger running backs. He's athletic, too, and Cox recently sent Rutgers video of Horton performing a back flip.
"One college coach said 'In my opinion, he's one of the five best bigger backs in the nation,' " Cox said.
Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State are also interested in Horton.
