ATH Aarion Penton still Mizzou solid

By Damon Sayles

The sudden resignation of Missouri offensive coordinator David Yost left commits and targets scratching their heads. Three-star athlete Aarion Penton (St. Louis/Christian Brothers College High) was one of the Missouri commits looking forward to learning under Yost’s tutelage.

“I’m shocked. I think he should have given it another shot next year,” said Penton, who committed to Missouri back in February.

Penton, however, did say that life must go on, and he’s one of the commits looking forward to SEC competition next year. Penton, recruited by cornerbacks coach Cornell Ford, said he's still committed to Missouri and feels the next offensive coordinator will have enough talent around him to make big things happen.

Penton had 59 catches for 896 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver this season. He also rushed for three touchdowns on offense. On defense, he had 23 tackles and two interceptions. Penton also scored two touchdowns on special teams returns.

“I’m still solid,” Penton said. “I think we still have a chance to come up in the conference, and I’m excited to see what kind of offense we can bring to the table next season.”

Penton originally was scheduled to make a trip to Missouri this past weekend, but he had to reschedule his visit to January because of the ACT.
