Electric A&M atmosphere charges recruits

By Gerry Hamilton

Not only was Saturday's Alabama-Texas A&M game amazing to watch for fans in attendance and watching on television, but the game and atmosphere resonated with prospects.

One of the top prospects in attendance on the star-studded list was junior running back Soso Jamabo (Plano, Texas/Plano West High). The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Jamabo, the No. 18 prospect in the ESPN Junior 300, left College Station, Texas, with terrific things to say about the experience.

"Surreal experience for anyone to attend and get a chance to watch the game of the eyar," Jamabo said. "The atmosphere from start to finish was amazing. Had a really fun time watching my favorite player (Johnny Manziel) play. Although they [Texas A&M] lost, it was an amazing game to watch."

Fellow ESPN Junior 300 prospect Tyron Johnson (New Orleans/Warren Easton High) summed up his thoughts on Twitter following the game.

The day after the game, the No. 38 prospect in the Class of 2015 remained in awe of the experience.

"It was an amazing game," Johnson said. "College football is the place to be! I never saw anything like that in my life. I mean, I saw games on TV, but to be there is different! The atmosphere was unbelievable!"

Class of 2016 running back Kameron Martin (Port Arthur, Texas/Memorial) was blown away by the atmosphere, but also used the game as a learning experience.

"It was a great experience and atmosphere," Martin said. "Great to see Johnny football in person. I learned from this game that you have to do the little things right because if you make one mistake, you will be in a dogfight with good teams. Also, it was very cool to hang with Tony Brown and Speedy Noil. Both are national recruits. It was a great feeling in my body saying I will have the chance to be in a great atmosphere like Texas A&M."

Martin also plans to attend games at Baylor, Houston and LSU later this season.

Official visitor and the nation's No. 25 prospect Jamal Adams (Lewisville, Texas/Hebron) made a simple tweet Saturday:

Five-star defensive end Myles Garrett (Arlington, Texas/James Martin) was on an official visit this weekend to A&M.

"It was amazing out there. Great game, not a lot of defense...but a whole lot of offense." Garrett said in a text message.

Added quarterback and ESPN Junior 300 prospect Kyler Murray (Allen, Texas/Allen High):

"The crowd never fails when I go down to College Station! You know, there was a point when the game was about to start where I turned around and looked at SoSo [Jamabo], and we were just in awe! The place was electric!" Murray said.
