Three-star athlete Justis Nelson (Mesquite, Texas/Dallas Christian) said he was caught off-guard when Saturday’s news broke about Tommy Tuberville leaving Texas Tech for Cincinnati.
Despite the news, the 6-foot-2, 168-pound wide receiver/cornerback confirmed that his commitment to the Red Raiders is still solid. He committed to Texas Tech in July and was recruited by graduate assistant Jeff Howard and offensive line coach Chris Thomsen.
“I was shocked,” Nelson said of Tuberville. “It was a big surprise, but I still have confidence in the coaches that are still at Tech.”
