COPPERAS COVE, Texas -- Defensive end Arnold Blackmon (Corsicana, Texas/Navarro College) stood on the Bulldawg Stadium turf, holding the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl trophy and celebrating with teammates, friends and family for the second consecutive year. For Blackmon, the trophy was more than just another bowl victory.
If nothing else, Saturday’s 30-23 win against Georgia Military College culminated a juco career that has watched Blackmon mature as a dependable player on the defensive line. With hard work and tutelage, Blackmon finished the season with 47 tackles and a team-high eight sacks.
A 6-foot-2, 235-pound end, Blackmon is hoping his play was enough to get additional looks. Currently, Blackmon has offers from Marshall, Kansas State and Old Dominion. New Mexico also is showing major interest in him.
