Many athletes speak about academics playing a major role in their recruiting process. While some use that merely as filler, players such as three-star offensive tackle Jake Campos (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) take academics seriously.
When Campos took an official visit to Iowa State last week, he not only saw a rising football program and an enthusiastic coaching staff but also a team loaded with scholar-athletes. Campos, who originally committed to Missouri on May 10, returned to Ames, Iowa, this weekend, and the 6-foot-7, 255-pound tackle gave coach Paul Rhoads his verbal commitment.
