MIDLAND, Texas -- For those who had any concerns about ESPN Watch List athlete Edwin Freeman (Arlington, Texas/Bowie) playing safety, all questions were answered Saturday afternoon.
Freeman is projected to play safety in college, but for the first time this season, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound athlete lined up at free safety -- and it happened to be in Bowie’s biggest game of the year. Freeman, who has been playing linebacker for the Volunteers the majority of the season, was a big-time playmaker in Bowie’s 31-14 win over El Paso (Texas) Franklin.
“I thought it’d be pretty tough,” Freeman said. “When I did play safety, I used to play the other position, the Pistol. I just had to face it.”
