Outside linebacker Charles Woods (Kilgore, Texas/Kilgore College) puts up numbers that often times are only seen in video games.
Take Woods’ game against Tyler (Texas) Junior College three weeks ago. In a 45-24 win, Woods recorded 19 tackles and had two interceptions, one of which he returned 71 yards for a touchdown. As a 5-foot-11, 200-pound linebacker, he showed throughout his sophomore season -- in one of the most respected junior college conferences in the country -- that he is a playmaker.
“Last year, I had 18 tackles, a blocked field goal and two sacks in a game,” Woods said, “but I think [the Tyler game] was the best game I’ve ever played so far. We’ve still got a bowl game to go, so that’s why I say it’s the best so far.”
