ROSENBERG, Texas -- At 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, possessing speed and exceptional leaping ability, it's easy to classify Rosenberg (Texas) Terry receiver Derrick Griffin as merely a big-time pass-catcher.
But as he showed in the Rangers' 59-35 win over League City (Texas) Clear Falls on Saturday, Griffin can do something else pretty well: block downfield.
Griffin, who is No. 29 in the ESPN 150 and is rated as the No. 1 tight end in the nation, used his large frame to block at the line of scrimmage and downfield to help fuel teammate Eugene Wright's huge rushing day of 242 yards and four touchdowns, a day in which Terry saw starting quarterback Antoine Arboleda go down with an arm injury.
