With all the spring accolades Colin Spencer (Dallas/Woodrow Wilson) has received -- Nike SPARQ combine awards, an invitation to The Opening and national attention for his athleticism -- arguably his biggest prize came early Saturday afternoon.
Spencer picked up his first scholarship opportunity this weekend from Kansas, as Jayhawks running backs coach Reggie Mitchell offered the 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete.
“They had been emailing over the past week saying they were going to have a meeting about me,” Spencer said. “That meeting carried over from [Friday] to [Saturday], and I got the good news. It feels good, I can guarantee that.”
