After a productive track and field season, Ellis Jefferson (Denton, Texas/Guyer) is now focused solely on spring football and getting more recognition as a college football prospect.
At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Jefferson has been working primarily on improving acceleration and lower leg strength. A quarter-mile participant in track, Jefferson was squatting 325 pounds before the end of the 2011 season; he’s now squatting 375 pounds.
“I’ve been working way more than usual,” Jefferson said. “I know all this will help me with my speed. I’m trying to get faster in my 40 [yard dash] and improve my agility. I’m a tall receiver, and I’m trying to get quicker.”
