Air Force offers CB Texada, QB Jordan

4/18/2012

Air Force put smiles on the faces on two Frisco (Texas) Centennial athletes on Tuesday.

Rising cornerback Ranthony Texada and quarterback Lamar Jordan each were offered by the Falcons Tuesday afternoon. Texada picked up his second offer, while Jordan claimed his first.

Both players were recruited by Air Force offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Blane Morgan.

“They came and talked to us today,” Texada said. “They talked about how they really liked the both of us. Then, they talked about what it would be like at a military academy.”

Texada, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound cornerback and return specialist, has an offer from Western Kentucky. He also is receiving interest from Stanford, Oklahoma State, Washington, Northwestern and a few other schools. He scored six touchdowns last season for Centennial – three on punt returns, two on interceptions and another on a kickoff return.

Jordan, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound, dual-threat quarterback, led Centennial in both passing and rushing. He threw for 2,422 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushed 131 times for 920 yards and 11 touchdowns. Jordan, who averaged better than seven yards per carry, has received interest from SMU and Tulsa.

“I know he was real happy,” Texada said of Jordan. “He had been waiting for some offers. I think his recruiting will start to pick up this summer. He’s flying under the radar now.”
