DE August talks Tulsa, OSU visits

4/10/2012

Rising defensive end Daniel August (Tulsa, Okla./Victory Christian) is looking to make a name for himself in the recruiting world. In a short time, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end has done enough to attract recruiters from several BCS programs.

Over the weekend, August made visits to Oklahoma State and Tulsa. He attended a spring practice at Oklahoma State on Friday and was at Tulsa on Saturday for the Golden Hurricanes' annual spring game.

August did not leave Stillwater, Okla., or Tulsa with an offer, but he said he enjoyed both visits.

“I talked with the [Tulsa] defensive ends coach, Adam Blankenship, throughout the visit,” August said of the Saturday trip. “After the game, I talked to most of the coaches.

“They want to see me play in person, so they are coming to my spring practice.”

A three-sport athlete, August played both sides of the ball in football, lining up as a defensive end and an offensive guard. He is a quick lineman, running the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. In addition to interest from Oklahoma State and Tulsa, August has received looks from Missouri, Baylor, Nebraska, Boise State, Oregon, Oregon State and North Texas.

August said he will make a return trip to Oklahoma State on April 21. In general, he said he’s looking for a school that has a good campus environment, a solid football program and a place that has the academic reputation of having a respectable sports medicine program. He wants to major in sports medicine.
