Defensive end Dimarya Mixon (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) picked up his first offer from Arizona State near the end of February. Roughly six weeks later, Mixon is now up to seven offers.
Mixon picked up his latest offer Thursday night from Syracuse. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound end now has offers from Arizona State, Syracuse, Ole Miss, Washington State, Kansas, Purdue and North Texas.
“I feel like everything’s going pretty good for me at the moment,” Mixon said. “It’s not going too fast; it’s going at a perfect pace. I just don’t want to get too excited and lose concentration on what I’m working for.”
Mixon’s primary recruiting contact at Syracuse is running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley, who starred as a running back at Michigan before playing 10 seasons in the NFL. Mixon said he is excited about Syracuse, a Big East school, making the move to the ACC.
Mixon added that he’s hearing from the school who first offered him, Arizona State. He doesn’t have any upcoming visits scheduled, as he is currently throwing the shot put for West Mesquite’s track and field team.
