TAMU enters picture for Isaiah Williams

3/12/2012

With one call, linebacker Isaiah Williams (Dallas/Skyline) has a new leader in the recruiting game.

Williams has had offers from Colorado, Kansas State and SMU, and he’s received looks from other schools here and there. On Thursday night, Texas A&M entered into the picture. Williams said that while the Aggies haven’t offered yet, they are showing considerable interest – enough interest for the 6-foot-1, 225-pound inside linebacker to make the Aggies an early frontrunner.

“I talked to [wide receivers] Coach [David] Beaty, and he seemed really interested in me,” Williams said. “He wanted me to come down for a visit.

“I hadn’t really thought about [the Aggies] much, but after just one phone call, it sounds like A&M is the place to be.”

Williams said the topics of playing in the SEC, joining an already-stellar 2013 class and attending a highly recognized institute of higher learning made him think twice about A&M. He said he feels the Aggies are close to offering, and he added that he will visit A&M sometime after spring break.

Williams also mentioned that while the Aggies are frontrunners, he is keeping his options open, and every school, large or small, has a shot of recruiting him.
