Three-star linebacker Dayne Davis (Aledo, Texas) confirmed Thursday evening that he has verbally committed to play football at Harvard.
A 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker with a 4.0 grade-point average, Davis chose Harvard over an offer from Dartmouth, offers from Division II schools and a walk-on opportunity at Duke.
Davis additionally received interest early during his recruiting process from Texas Tech, Rice and Tulsa.
“When I went and visited, I enjoyed the coaches and the people,” said Davis, who was recruited by. “They’ve been recruiting me for a while. Out of all the other schools, I felt like they wanted me the most. Plus, there are benefits that come with a Harvard diploma. You can’t go wrong with Harvard.”
Davis, who played outside linebacker and won three consecutive Texas Class 4A state titles at Aledo, is expected to play a linebacker/safety hybrid role at Harvard. Academically, Davis said is looking to major in either computer science or engineering.
