Now that four-star tight end Griffin Gilbert (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis) has helped make history on the high school level, he is now focusing his attention on helping TCU make history on the college level.
The Horned Frogs commit and the nation’s eighth-ranked tight end, in front of 32,314 fans at Cowboys Stadium, did his part in leading Lake Travis to its fifth consecutive Texas football state championship on Dec. 16. No other team in Texas high school football history has achieved that mark.
“I’ve been on varsity for three years now, and to see the program rise to where it is, it’s simply amazing,” Gilbert said. “I’m so proud of my team. Everyone gave everything we had. Now, we can say we have five state championships.”
