Wide receiver Ed’Marques Batties (Kilgore, Texas/Kilgore College) is one of the many junior college football players expected to graduate in the spring. With the majority of mid-year junior college transfers signed, college coaches are now turning more to the juco athletes looking to graduate in May and make a decision in time for the February signing period.
For Batties, a 6-foot, 185-pound speedster, the interest is continuing to rise. The second-team NJCAA All-American and first-team all-Southwest Junior College Football Conference receiver has an offer from Troy and looks from Memphis, Houston, Rice and Middle Tennessee.
Batties was the leading receiver for Kilgore, finishing the season with 67 receptions for 976 yards and 11 touchdowns. Kilgore was 8-3 on the season and finished No. 16 in the final NJCAA poll.
