Melvinson Hartfield (Dallas/South Oak Cliff) had offers from Eastern Kentucky and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, but he was still looking for that first FBS offer. On Tuesday, Kansas State contacted him and offered.
Hartfield wanted to commit on the spot, but he took a night to think about the offer. His thoughts didn’t change the next day. In fact, they were even stronger for the Wildcats.
Hartfield made it official Wednesday morning, verbally committing to the Wildcats and achieving his dream of playing major conference college football. A 5-foot-11, 190-pound athlete who has lined up all over the field for South Oak Cliff, Hartfield was recruited to play cornerback.
