Junior college defensive end Michael Jolivet (Corsicana, Texas/Navarro College) has had the chance to let his team’s C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl title and No. 4 national ranking settle for a week. Now, it’s time for the 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end to prepare for life as an FBS athlete.
Jolivet committed to Houston in July, and he recently said he’s firm with his commitment. Additionally, Jolivet is excited to bring what he learned in two years of championship juco play to a Houston program looking to bounce back from a 5-7 season.
“It really kept me on point,” Jolivet said of playing at Navarro. “It let me know it doesn’t get any easier. I played some great competition this year, and that’s going to help me when I get to Houston.”
Jolivet finished the year with 38 tackles and four sacks. He will leave Navarro with two Southwest Junior College Football Conference championships, as well as two Heart of Texas Bowl titles.
“It’s just one of those feelings that goes all the way down to your feet,” Jolivet said. “Not too many people can say they have two bowl wins. It’s a good feeling.”
Jolivet, originally from Beaumont, Texas, also had offers from Louisiana Tech and San Jose State.
