Four-star linebacker Nick Ramirez (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Lee’s Summit West) took in Kansas State’s 42-24 win over Texas that clinched the Big 12 championship on Saturday. It was his first visit -- albeit unofficial -- since announcing his decommitment from Missouri last month.
Ramirez, the No. 6 player in the state of Missouri and the No. 23 inside linebacker nationally in the 2013 class, made the trip with Lee’s Summit West teammates in four-star defensive end Jamone Boyd and two-star outside linebacker Michael Holt.
“I loved the atmosphere. It seems like a great place to be at,” Ramirez said. “The fans are great. I talked to lot of the guys on the team, and they seem like some cool guys. They had a lot of cool things to say about the problem.”
Ramirez, who is being recruited by Kansas State defensive coordinator Tom Hayes, said he will play his recruiting “by ear.” He’s not expecting to make a decision any time soon, but he isn’t ruling out a quick announcement.
Ramirez said he has no visits scheduled in December but would consider making an official visit if the right opportunity approached. He is, however, looking to visit Missouri and Arkansas the second and third weeks of January. Ramirez has offers from Kansas State, Nebraska, Purdue, Iowa, Kansas and other schools, and he's gone on record to say that Missouri is still in the mix. Schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio State and Auburn also are showing interest.
