The million-dollar question: Does one tweet from ESPN 150 defensive tackle Justin Manning (Dallas/Kimball) tell all? After watching Oklahoma fall to Notre Dame, 30-13, Saturday night, Manning sent a four-word tweet that made some of those following his recruiting process ask that question.
“Oklahoma got me sick,” he tweeted.
Manning and the record crowd of 86,031 in attendance at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium watched Notre Dame score 17 unanswered points on the Sooners in the final 5:05 of the game. Following the game, the four-star defensive tackle gave his comments about both teams.
“It was a good game. They just didn’t finish,” Manning said of Oklahoma. “[The Irish] are a physical team on defense and explosive on offense. [OU] gave up too many points. The secondary really wasn’t clicking.”
Manning has Oklahoma, LSU Texas A&M, TCU and USC on his list of schools, but of those five, Oklahoma has the longest relationship with him. It stems back to watching his older brother DeMarcus Granger play on the Oklahoma defensive line from 2006-09. The 6-foot-2, 275-pound standout is being recruited by Sooners defensive line coach Jackie Shipp.
Manning, however, has repeatedly said all five schools are on a level playing ground, and he will not make a decision until he takes all of his official visits. He has an official visit this weekend to LSU, as the Tigers host defending BCS national champion Alabama.
“I just want to get a better for the school and the coaches,” said Manning, who is being recruited to LSU by defensive line coach Brick Haley.
Manning is ranked No. 8 among defensive tackles nationally and ranked No. 11 among all players in Texas in the Class of 2013.
