Before the start of the summer, tight end Tyler Nugent (Kansas City, Mo./Staley) was 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds. With the help of a teammate he dubbed his “personal trainer,” Nugent has put on 15 pounds of muscle -- which has aided in his strength off the line and overall blocking ability.
Nugent said he and Staley quarterback Trent Hosick, a three-star Missouri commit, have been on a rigorous workout regimen that includes full-body strength training and the consumption of anywhere from 5,200-5,500 calories per day. The results have been positive, as Nugent has been looking for ways to put on weight as he prepares to play football on the next level.
“I’ve been eating like a horse and working out all the time with Trent,” Nugent said. “The pounds have been coming with it. It’s really helped me in my work ethic.”
