Austin Burau (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Lee’s Summit West) picked a fine time to have his best-ever statistical game last Friday. Against Blue Springs (Mo.), the 6-foot-5, 215-pound, all-purpose tight end caught six passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and he also rushed for a score in a 35-28 overtime victory.
Burau’s final touchdown, an 11-yard catch, proved to be the game-winner for LSW, a team that is undefeated through four games. Ironically, the two touchdowns are his only receiving scores of the year. He has eight touchdowns so far -- six coming on the rush.
In an average game, Burau can line up as a tight end, wide receiver, running back, fullback or Wildcat QB. It’s his versatility that makes him an attractive college prospect. Currently, Burau has received looks from Oklahoma, Nebraska, New Mexico, Missouri and Kansas.
