Immediately following his team's Saturday victory against nationally ranked Tulsa (Okla.) Union, offensive lineman Salesi Uhatafe (Euless, Texas/Trinity) wasn’t in full celebratory mode. Albeit happy to get the win, he knew it just that – one win.
Uhatafe approaches the recruiting process in a similar way. At 6-foot-5 and 301 pounds, Uhatafe recently picked up his first offer from Arizona State, and while it was an exciting time, he knows he still has a way to go in becoming the player he wants to show off to colleges.
“I was pretty happy about it, because I wasn’t really expecting to get any big offers like that,” Uhatafe said. “It’s still something I take day by day. Right now, I’m just trying to help my team out.”
Uhatafe does that with his versatility. He’s a tackle for Trinity, but his natural spot in college might be as an interior lineman. He can play both guard and center.
Recruited by Sun Devils offensive line coach Bob Connelly, Uhatafe also is garnering interest from Washington State, Baylor and TCU. He attended summer camps hosted by Texas A&M, Washington State, Baylor and TCU. Arizona State offered before the start of the school year.
