Jamar Criswell entertaining two offers

8/27/2012

After sustaining a torn ACL during his junior year, three-star running back Jamar Criswell (Morrilton, Ark./Morrilton) is ready to cash in on what he’s anticipating will be a productive 2012 season.

Criswell, the No. 5 player in Arkansas, said he is healthy and ready to show that he’s a much-improved player than last year. He still holds offers from Arkansas State and Kansas State, and he said he has received interest from Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Auburn, Oregon, Michigan and Connecticut.

“I’m 100 percent now,” Criswell said. “I’ve just got to get on the field and earn it now. I feel pretty good about everything. I just want to show coaches I can play.”

Criswell spent all of the summer rehabbing his right knee. The ACL injury happened in October, midway through the 2011 season. At 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, Criswell is listed as a running back but is versatile enough to play wide receiver, as well as a defensive back. He’s been clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.4 seconds.

Criswell said he’s appreciative of Arkansas State and Kansas State not pulling their scholarship offers, and both schools are high on his list.

“I like how they turned the program around,” Criswell said of Arkansas State. “They’re winning down there. When they got Coach [Gus] Malzahn, I thought that would help them out to win more games.

“With Kansas State, I like that they’re in the Big 12. They’re going to play the best teams in one of the best conferences.”

Criswell said he’s yet to set up an official visit, rather choosing to focus on the season and helping Morrilton earn a postseason berth.
