Houston’s Alief Taylor High has produced another defensive lineman who will play college ball.
Defensive end Duke Ejiofor gave his verbal commitment to Rice on Thursday night.
The Rice offer was Ejiofor’s first, and UTSA, TCU, Iowa State and Northwestern have also shown interest.
“Rice has been recruiting me the hardest so far throughout this process,” he said. “I like where I stand over there and I like the academics and environment.”
A 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect, Ejiofor played for Taylor’s junior varsity team in 2011 but enjoyed a breakout spring and summer for the Lions.
“There’s going to be a lot of competing for who can get to the ball first,” Ejiofor said. “It’s going to be amazing.”
Rice now has 10 commits for its 2013 class, and Ejiofor is its first defensive line pledge.
