Anthony Antwine looking for first offer

7/23/2012

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, wide receiver Anthony Antwine (Plano, Texas/Plano) is a big target who is still looking to score his first offer. That offer could come very soon, particularly after a positive showing at the Texas State 7-on-7 Championships over the weekend.

Antwine was one of the primary targets for Connecticut-bound quarterback Richard Lagow throughout the tournament, which Plano won. Nebraska and Tulsa have been showing high interest in Antwine, and Colorado State, Texas, Oklahoma and Connecticut have been in contact in the past.

“I’m looking for a school with tradition and work ethic,” Antwine said. “It’s all about winning and how the coaches prepare you.”

When asked about his appreciation for Nebraska and Tulsa, Antwine said, “A lot of it has to do with family. I love the environments over there and the way the football programs work. The coaches are great.”

Antwine described himself as a physical player with downfield speed who loved to block. Antwine also said he’s someone doesn’t catch the ball with his body. Antwine caught 15 balls for 173 yards for Plano last season.

Antwine is hoping to become an FBS wide receiver. His size, however, may suggest him being projected as a tight end.

“A lot of the coaches want me to play wide receiver and be a possession receiver down the field,” he said, “but all that matters is if I’m playing. I’ll play anywhere.”
