Arizona State has dipped its toe into the Lone Star State waters once again and picked up a commit from a three-star wide receiver on Saturday.
When Ellis Jefferson (Denton, Texas/Guyer) verbally committed to coach Todd Graham and the Sun Devils, he more importantly gave the Sun Devils their first receiver commitment of the 2013 recruiting class. At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Jefferson is a big, physical presence who should be able to stretch the field.
Jefferson, who committed after an unofficial visit to the campus, is ranked No. 105 among all receivers in the Class of 2013. He is ranked No. 124 among all players in Texas. He confirmed the commitment on his Twitter page, saying, “Officially an Arizona State Sun Devil!”
ESPN scouts describe Jefferson as a player with good hands, sound concentration in traffic and a high elevator for success.
“This is a bull-in-a-china-shop type guy, strong, physical and difficult to handle one on one,” the scouting report said.
Jefferson is the second Texan to commit to Arizona State. He is expected to join three-star defensive end Dimarya Mixon (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) in Tempe, Ariz.
