Peyton Newell (Hiawatha, Kan.) had a dozen offers entering Thursday. No. 13 might have been the one to make the 2014 defensive end smile the brightest.
Newell picked up an offer from Kansas State, a school that Newell’s been high on since he was a kid. The Manhattan, Kan., school is roughly an hour and a half away from Hiawatha, and it’s a program he called “the hometown choice.”
“K-State’s always been that team growing up I always wanted to play for,” Newell said. “My town’s about 4,000 people, and about 3,500 of them are K-State fans. It was definitely good to be able to say that I have a chance to play there now.”
