Oklahoma State picked up its third verbal commitment of the week when four-star defensive tackle Vincent Taylor (San Antonio/Madison) delivered his pledge on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2, 267-pound defensive lineman is the Cowboys’ sixth verbal commit for their 2013 recruiting class. OSU picked up commitments from tackle Zachary Crabtree (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) and safety Deric Robertson (Killeen, Texas/Killeen) on Tuesday.
Taylor received his offer from Oklahoma State co-defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer last week and felt the opportunity was too good to turn down.
“I’m very excited,” Taylor said. “That’s an open spot I wouldn’t want to pass up. I feel like I can go play right away there and get a good education.”
Baylor was long considered the favorite to land a pledge from Taylor, but when the defensive tackle called Bears coaches early last week to commit he was told they were not ready to take him.
“Baylor had offered me, but when I was ready to commit they kept telling me to wait,” Taylor said. “I was tired of waiting.”
Taylor is ranked No. 16 among defensive tackles and also held offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Vanderbilt and Purdue.
