Chris Hall commits to Tulsa

5/18/2012

Tulsa picked up its third commitment on Friday, as fullback Chris Hall (Tulsa, Okla./Union) gave a verbal pledge to the Golden Hurricane on a local radio station.

A 6-foot, 230-pound junior, Hall is projected to be either a tight end or an H-back in college. He was a part of Union’s last two state championship teams. The program has won four consecutive Oklahoma Class 6A titles.

“Chris is such an outstanding kid. I know a lot of people say that about their guys, but he really is a great kid on of the field,” Union coach Kirk Fridrich said of Hall. “Athletically, the things he can do is amazing. For us, he’s an H-back receiver, but he can go vertical and cause problems for safeties with his athleticism.”

Hall caught 34 passes for 336 yards and a touchdown as a junior for Union. He caught 27 passes for 275 yards and two scores as a sophomore. Tulsa was Hall’s only offer, but he received interest from several programs, including Oregon, USC, Missouri and in-state schools Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Fridrich said Hall’s experience at Union could parlay into him being a solid leader on the college circuit.

“Hopefully, the kids who come out of our program add to a football team and their universities,” Fridrich said. “Chris comes from a program where we have high expectations for our kids. He understands work ethic, and he’s fortunate to come from a program that knows how to win championships.”

Hall joins fellow in-state commits offensive guard Rob Boyd (Vian, Okla./Vian) and quarterback Ben Oberste (Sallisaw, Okla./Sallisaw) in Tulsa’s 2013 recruiting class.
