Christian Chamagua (Manvel, Texas/Manvel) lives in the Houston-area suburubs, but there was something about the rural scenery and small-town environment of Wyoming that recently won him over.
Chamagua, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle, committed to Wyoming late last week after visiting the Mountain West Conference school and the city of Laramie, Wyo., two weekends ago. Chamagua said was something that the bright lights of a big city simply couldn’t compete with.
“Laramie’s not really a big town. It’s more outdoorsy, kind of like if you went inside a Bass Pro Shops,” Chamagua said. “That’s what I loved about it. I loved the mountains, the wildlife, everything.” Chamagua was on campus the weekend of Oct. 15, when the Cowboys beat UNLV, 41-14. He not only met some of the players but also took in what he called a rowdy game day atmosphere, which surprised him.
