Speaking primarily from a skill-position perspective, Cedar Hill (Texas) head football coach Joey McGuire is calling his 2012 team one of the best he’s had.

For starters, the Longhorns will feature two Texas A&M commits in athlete LaQuvionte Gonzalez and receiver Quincy Adeboyejo. They will spearhead a Cedar Hill offense that features nine starters returning from last season – in addition to two part-time starters.

Gonzalez was featured on Tuesday. Here are four other 2013 players to keep an eye on throughout the upcoming season:

  • QB Damion Hobbs: McGuire gave Hobbs the ultimate compliment for dual-threat quarterbacks, calling him the best signal-caller he’s had to read the run game. Hobbs threw for 997 yards and eight touchdowns and rushed for 875 yards and 11 touchdowns in only seven starts. Hobbs, 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, also only threw one interception for the season. Hobbs, who has offers Arkansas State, Oregon State and Iowa State, showed significant improvement in his passing at the Elite 11 at Cowboys Stadium.
  • WR Brandon Harris: At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Harris brings speed and a physical presence to Cedar Hill’s receiving corps. He runs the 40-yard dash consistently in 4.5 seconds, and on stop routes or curl routes, he’s difficult to bring down because of his physical nature. Harris has attended junior days at Baylor, Kansas State and Texas Tech, and McGuire feels Harris’ recruiting stock will rise throughout the spring and summer.
