The recent tweets from ESPNU 150 Watch List receiver Quan Jones (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East) have painted a very clear picture from a recruiting standpoint.
“I need some BU followers,” one tweet said.
“SicEm,” another said.
And then there was tweet he sent that was the knockout punch: “I may be a future Bear.”
With Jones, there’s a definite appreciation and respect for the Baylor football program. However, contrary to what some have said, Jones is still very much open with the recruiting process.
At least for now.
A 6-foot-4, 192-pound receiver, Jones said Baylor currently is tops on his list, and it will take a lot for a program to sway him otherwise, but he added that he has interest in Texas Tech, Tennessee, Purdue, Michigan State and Ole Miss, among others.
“They have a good coaching staff,” Jones said of Baylor. “I’m loving the fans and the stadium improvements.”
Jones has been recruited by Baylor inside receivers coach Kendal Briles and linebackers coach Jim Gush, in addition to head coach Art Briles. He caught 41 passes for 420 yards and four touchdowns during the 2011 season. Jones particiapted in the Nike Football Training Camp at the Dallas Cowboys practice facility on Sunday.
Early Monday morning, Jones tweeted “One team. One God. One goal,” which referred to the T-shirts the members of the Baylor men’s basketball team wore before their game against Kentucky. Jones said that while his interest in Baylor is very high, he’s still planning on taking his time with his final decision.
