Chase Abbington (St. Charles, Mo./Fort Zumwalt South), a 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, was one of the country’s biggest running backs in 2011. He now will focus on being one of the biggest – if not the biggest – running backs in the SEC.
After a weekend visit to Missouri, Abbington gave the Tigers a verbal commitment and became the program’s fifth commitment of the 2013 recruiting class. Recruited by cornerbacks coach Cornell Ford, Abbington chose Missouri over offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Arizona and Kansas State.
“I’ve been up there three other times before, and every time out, it just felt right,” Abbington said. “When I visited other schools, it just didn’t feel right. [Columbia, Mo.] is 45 minutes from my house, so it’ll be easy to get home.”
