QB Jordan Darling gets first offer

The first offer is always the toughest to get for most high school football players. Quarterback Jordan Darling (Waco, Texas/Midway) got over that hump late Thursday afternoon.

Darling received an offer from Kansas and earned his first offer of his recruiting process. The 6-foot-5, 227-pound, pro-style quarterback was in attendance for Kansas' junior day two weekends ago and, in addition to taking in the facilities, improved his budding relationship with quarterbacks coach Ron Powlus. He also spoke with head coach Charlie Weis.

“I talked to Coach Powlus first [Thursday], and then, he handed the phone to Coach Weis. He was the one who offered me,” Darling said. “It feels great. I’m honored and am nothing but grateful. God has definitely blessed me.”

Darling said he is excited about the offer, but he is still planning on attending a couple more junior days in the spring. He’s been invited to Kansas State's junior day and to Oklahoma for its annual spring game.

Darling threw for 1,820 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2011. Along with the offer, he has received early correspondence from Kansas State, Boise State and Oklahoma.
