While linebacker Deoundrei Davis (Cypress, Texas/Cy Woods) is receiving the lion’s share of recognition for 2013 players to watch at Cy Woods, head coach David Jones doesn’t want scouts to sleep on defensive back Alfred Pullom.
A 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety, Pullom is an all-around player who could tackle and defend the pass. He showed his ball-hawking skills by recording three interceptions, which tied for the team lead, during the 2011 season. Jones said Pullom has received early correspondence from Oregon, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Houston and Texas Tech, among others.
“He’s really a good-looking specimen,” Jones said of Pullom. “He’s a big DB who could probably be an outside 'backer in the right system. He’s an unbelievably good kid, and he’ll qualify academically.”
