Prior to Wednesday evening, Christian Morgan (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) had eight offers because of his abilities at the tight end position. Morgan picked up offer No. 9 from Washington late Wednesday, but that offer could lead to him playing on the defensive side of the ball.
Morgan said Washington has an interest in him playing defensive end. He’s been in contact with defensive line coach and ace recruiter Tosh Lupoi, and signing with the Huskies could mean playing defense in the Pac-12. No other schools, Morgan said, have discussed him playing anywhere other than tight end.
“He said I could play defensive end or tight end, and they really are fighting over which side they want me at.” Morgan said. “I understand why [Lupoi] is the nation’s best recruiter supposedly. He’s just an awesome guy. He’s a lot of fun to talk to.”
Morgan saw time on defense in 2011 and helped Prestonwood Christian finish 9-3 and advance to the TAPPS 5A state semifinals. He currently has offers from Baylor, Miami, Arkansas and Cal, among others.
