The first junior day for quarterback Jordan Darling (Waco, Texas/Midway) turned out to be a success.
Darling made the trip to Lawrence, Kan., for Kansas' junior day Saturday, and while he didn’t leave with a scholarship offer, he did leave with good memories.
“It was very positive. I had a great time,” said Darling, a 6-foot-5, 227-pound pro-style quarterback. “Coach [Charlie] Weis was very clear about the expectations he has from his players. He knows what he wants.”
Darling added that the visit definitely set the bar for future visits. He had a chance to meet all the coaches and speak in depth with quarterbacks coach Ron Powlus, in addition to meeting other players in the 2013 class. The tour of the Kansas campus provided more than what he originally anticipated.
“The facilities, to me, were as good as Ohio State, Florida or any other place I’ve been,” Darling said. “It’s very nice there, a lot nicer than what I expected.”
Darling, who threw for 1,820 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2011, doesn’t have an offer, but he is getting looks from Kansas and Oklahoma. He’s participated in Oklahoma’s summer camps the last three years. He said he is still finalizing upcoming junior days and unofficial visits.
