Johnny Jefferson (Killeen, Texas/Shoemaker) woke up last Wednesday expecting to be a better football player and student-athlete. He was not expecting to leave school juggling two scholarship offers.
Once a player with no offers, Jefferson picked up offers from Notre Dame and UCLA on the same day. As he prepares for the Texas A&M junior day on Saturday, he hopes to add another to his growing list soon. Jefferson has Texas A&M interested, as well as Oklahoma State, TCU, Houston and Duke.
Jefferson, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back, called last Wednesday “a great moment” and is hoping to enter his senior year with multiple offers. Jefferson was a first-team, all-district selection at running back for the 2011 season.
What makes Jefferson instantly attractive on the field is his speed and quickness. Jefferson has been clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.36 seconds. Jefferson participated in the U.S. Army national combine in January in San Antonio and recorded one of the fastest times among the hundreds of players.
