MESQUITE, Texas - Tight end Vincent Hobbs (Mesquite, Texas/Horn) once thought he was headed to Texas. That offer didn’t come, but the opportunity to play BCS football did.
Hobbs, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound pass-catching option, signed with Colorado during a signing day ceremony Wednesday afternoon at Horn High School. Hobbs was Horn’s leading receiver in 2011, recording 49 catches for 598 yards and two touchdowns.
“I’ve been doing all this hard work since my freshman year, and this was my first year playing full-time at tight end,” said Hobbs, who was converted to tight end after playing receiver. “Coach [Rodney] Webb’s been there for me, and my teammates have been behind me. I’ve been wanting this since I was a kid, and it’s finally happening.”
