Euless (Texas) Trinity recruiting coordinator John Thompson confirmed Monday evening that three-star offensive guard Hiva Lutui has verbally committed to Utah.
Lutui, ranked No. 50 among offensive guards in the country, chose Utah over USC and UCLA. He is ranked No. 107 among all players in Texas. He is expected to sign a national letter of intent with the Utes Wednesday morning.
Recruited by safeties coach Morgan Scalley, Lutui visited the Utah campus the weekend of Dec. 9. Thompson said the family atmosphere was something that Lutui raved about after returning to Euless. Lutui visited UCLA two weekends ago and USC last weekend, but Utah was the team to beat.
