Watch List OL Dawson talks new offer

2013 offensive lineman David Dawson (Houston, Texas/Cy Ridge) has adjusted well since moving from Michigan to Texas. Since moving to Houston, he has emerged into one of the area’s top offensive linemen.

Florida State has taken notice, and the Seminoles recently offered the 6-foot-3, 300 pound guard. Dawson had an offer from Eastern Michigan prior to hearing from Florida State.

“I was somewhat surprised, but extremely honored when they offered,” Dawson said. “With FSU, they’re in Florida, there’s nice weather and beautiful sites. It’s one heck of a program that is going to start making a lot more noise in the upcoming years.”

Dawson, who was invited to the U.S. Army National Combine last week in San Antonio, said defensive coordinator Mark Stoops is his primary recruiter. Dawson also said he’s conversed with offensive line coach Rick Trickett.

As intriguing the offer from Florida State was, Dawson said he’s going to take his time and make an educated decision. He’s going to weigh all options.

Dawson added that while Florida State may be his biggest offer, Eastern Michigan is very much in the mix. He’s a fan of the program, head coach Ron English and offensive line coach Kurt Anderson. To add, Eastern Michigan, located in Ypsilanti, Mich., is roughly a half-hour drive from his native Detroit.

Dawson additionally is receiving looks from Alabama, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State and Texas Tech, among others.
