With roughly three weeks remaining until signing day, high three-star offensive lineman Conner Grooms (Tyler, Texas/Robert E. Lee) can safely and honestly say that he is unsure about what he wants to do from a recruiting aspect.
That’s because several of the schools that have either offered or have expressed interest in him have had coaching changes in the past weeks, and Grooms is uncertain if he’s still on the lists of schools. He had offers from Houston and Kansas before Kevin Sumlin left Houston to coach at Texas A&M and Turner Gill was replaced at Kansas by Charlie Weis.
“As of right now, everything’s pretty much wide open with me,” said Grooms, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound senior who can play offensive tackle but most likely will line up at center in college. “I’ve been on a few [unofficial] visits, but I just don’t know anything yet.”
