Three-star safety Nick Orr (DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto) is a defensive-minded individual who wants to play football for a defensive-minded head coach.
It’s no wonder, then, that he committed to TCU and Gary Patterson on Monday morning.
“I made the decision earlier this morning, not too long ago, really,” Orr said. “I told Coach Patterson after he showed us around campus this morning. After that, we sat down and I made the commitment. It was an exciting mood for everybody in the room, really.”
Orr (5-foot-10, 166 pounds) chose the Horned Frogs over Baylor and Oklahoma State because of their known defensive prowess. He also had offers from Duke, Kansas, Louisiana-Monroe, Missouri, North Texas and Texas Tech.
He is TCU’s seventh commitment in 2014 and the second defensive back. Cornerback Nick Foster (Fort Worth, Texas/Fossil Ridge) gave his pledge in February.
