Nance to choose at U.S. Army Bowl

1/4/2012

SAN ANTONIO – Four-star linebacker Brian Nance (Euless, Texas/Trinity) has announced he will make a college decision Saturday during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Nance, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior, who can play outside linebacker and safety because of his speed, will choose between UCLA, Baylor and Arkansas on Saturday. Nance added that regardless of his decision, he will take official visits to all three schools.

“After I leave here, I’ll fly out to UCLA [the weekend of] Jan. 13,” Nance said. “I’ll come back for our [Trinity] football banquet, and then I’ll go to either Arkansas or Baylor. I’ll probably go to Arkansas since I’ve been to Baylor on unofficials.

“I’m going to commit and knock it out the way just to slow down the recruiting. I’m going to still take my visits until February comes.”

Nance said all three high schools are high on his list from an athletics standpoint, but the winner will be the school that can best benefit him academically. Currently, Nance holds offers from those schools, as well as USC, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Tennessee, among others.

Many speculators believe Baylor is the school to beat, but Nance said he has a message for anyone interested.

"If they came to me right now," he said, "I’d tell them to watch Saturday, and I’ll pick the hat. They’ll see then where I want to go."
