Watch List offensive tackle Chris Fox (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa), a 2013 prospect expected to be among the nation’s elite, is slowly but surely collecting BCS offers.
Fox’s latest offer comes courtesy of Purdue, the third team to officially put its name in the running for Fox. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound lineman has other offers from Colorado and Michigan, and he’s expecting more offers to come once the signing period for 2012 players passes.
“Everything’s been going really well. I’m getting a ton of mail,” Fox said. “I’m talking to a bunch of people, so it’s been good.”
Fox said the Purdue offer was the most surprising of the three. He hasn’t had a chance to formally speak to coaches, but he has friends who attended Purdue. Additionally, Fox was born in Indianapolis, which is located roughly an hour away from West Lafayette, Ind., and the Purdue campus.
Fox’s first offer came from Colorado, which is roughly a 45-minute drive from his hometown of Parker. He picked up both the Colorado and Michigan offers during the summer.
“It just felt really good getting them,” Fox said. “Just to know that I’m going to college to play football, that was a really good feeling.”
Considered one of the top – if not the top – 2013 college recruit in the state, Fox also is getting looks from Notre Dame, Oregon, Nebraska, Washington and UCLA, among other programs. The winning school will get a versatile player who can play tackle and guard, as well as a hard-working athlete who can be a leader by example.
“I want the whole package,” Fox said, referring to what he wants in a program. “I just want to be comfortable with the coaches and players, and I want to like the system.”
