Football Recruiting - Midlands Region: Florida State Seminoles

CEDAR HILL, Texas -- The second annual Mike Adams Camp of Conquerors 7-on-7 tournament featured 13 of the top 7-on-7 teams in the Dallas area on Saturday. The tournament, put on by the NFL defensive back, gives the opportunity to win $5,000 for the winning 7-on-7 program.

Early Saturday evening, Mesquite (Texas) Horn defeated Cedar Hill to walk away with the championship.

MANVEL, Texas -- ESPN 150 receiver Armanti Foreman might have upwards of 15 offers, but he's still willing to work for more, if that's what it takes.

The Texas City (Texas) High School 2014 prospect showed as much by attending Texas Tech's second Houston-area satellite camp of the week on Friday at Manvel (Texas) High School. Foreman, a four-star prospect who is ranked 14th at his position and No. 115 overall in the ESPN 150, went out and worked on both sides of the football.

That's right. Foreman played defense at the Red Raiders camp, willingly lining up at cornerback during one-on-ones.

HOUSTON — Katy (Texas) High School 2016 safety Collin Wilder is rare in that he started games on Katy's varsity as a freshman. According to head coach Gary Joseph, only two Tigers in the last 31 years have done that and one of them is Wilder's teammate, 2015 running back Rodney Anderson.

At least one coach on Texas Tech's staff already knew Wilder's name in 2012. That's because his team faced Wilder and the Tigers on the field. Texas Tech's current running backs coach, Mike Jinks, was the head coach at Cibolo (Texas) Steele last season when the Knights encountered Katy in the Texas 5A Division II state semifinals.

Jordan Davis
Bob Przybylo/ESPNClass of 2015 tight end Jordan Davis has been offered by Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma recently.
When Houston Clear Lake 2015 tight end Jordan Davis committed to Florida State in March, the Seminoles were the only team that had offered him a scholarship.

Several other teams threw their hats in the ring after he committed, and Davis always maintained that he would keep his options open.

On Wednesday night, the 6-foot-4, 247-pound prospect officially decommitted from the Seminoles, he confirmed via text message.

The news is likely a good sign for Texas A&M, the latest school to offer Davis. He attended the Aggies' one-day camp on Sunday and confirmed on Wednesday that he will be back in College Station, Texas, on Thursday to see the campus.

"I never got a chance to look around [the whole campus]," said Davis, who visited Aggieland for the Maroon-and-White spring game in April.

Arizona State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas are the other programs who have offered Davis thus far. He originally committed to Florida State on March 19.

Last month, Davis said getting a Texas A&M offer would be a "game-changer" in his recruitment, citing the Aggies' proximity to his home, their membership in the SEC and their recent success. He landed an offer for them Sunday night after his camp performance.
Texas A&M held its second one-day camp of the month on Sunday at the Coolidge Grass Practice Fields in College Station, Texas and there was plenty of action during -- and after -- the camp when it came to recruiting. Among the highlights:

Aggies offer 2014 OT

La Grange (Texas) High School offensive tackle Zachary Ledwik has seen his recruiting stock skyrocket recently. A week ago, Texas offered the 6-foot-5 prospect and on Sunday, Texas A&M became the latest team to offer Ledwik. He weighed in at 273 pounds and with a handful of power conference offers already (Arizona State, Baylor, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon State and Texas Tech are the others), he's finding that his decision will be a difficult one. Ledwik will return to Texas today for a visit and after that's complete, he said he plans to schedule an unofficial visit to return to Texas A&M.

MANVEL, Texas -- When 2015 tight end Jordan Davis (Houston/Clear Lake) committed to Florida State in March, he acknowledged that he knew other schools and coaches would continue to recruit him in the coming months and years.

Perhaps what caught him a little off guard was how quickly others threw their hat in the ring.

It’s been a little over two weeks since Daniel Gresham (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints Episcopal) decided Texas wasn’t the place for him. Now, the nation’s No. 2 fullback is inching closer to finalizing where his new home will be.

For most college football recruits, announcing a top 12 doesn’t attract a ton of views. For someone like ESPN 150 safety Jamal Adams (Lewisville, Texas/Hebron), a top 12 is news that many programs have anticipated for months.

That’s because Adams, a 6-foot, 199-pound, four-star defensive back, has been quite vocal about his high school football team's expectations and teammates but very tight-lipped about his recruiting. Many have speculated his interest, but he’s rarely confirmed or denied any reports.

If you know ESPN 150 offensive tackle Roderick Johnson (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central), then you know that nothing tends to bother him. Not the stress of being the No. 2 player in the state of Missouri. Not being a four-star athlete.

Not even his recruiting process -- one that seems to remix every day.

While many of the large schools in Texas begin to close out their spring football schedules, most underclassmen are treated as seniors. In the same breath, many freshmen are preparing for the next level, whether it’s junior varsity or varsity play.

Kaden Smith (Flower Mound, Texas/Marcus), however, isn’t your average freshman. At 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, Smith is a big tight end who already has the attention of elite programs.

Four-star defensive tackle Josh Frazier (Springdale, Ark./Har-Ber) isn't worried about making a rushed decision regarding his college football future. Recruiting for Frazier, to an extent, is taking a back seat until after May 23 -- the last day of spring football for his school.

Spring ball, however, could lead to a variety of options for the No. 2 player in Arkansas, as it offers Frazier -- a player with nine offers -- the chance to attract even more programs. At 6-foot-4 and 336 pounds, Frazier has offers from SEC schools Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M, in addition to Florida State, Notre Dame, USC and Arkansas State.

In the few times he has found reprieve from his busy track season, ESPN 150 cornerback Tony Brown has managed to get out of town for two big spring game visits.

Things are moving so fast, though, that Brown has had little time to sit down and think things through. His grand plan is being made up on the fly right now.

ESPN 150 offensive tackle Roderick Johnson (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) had his spring game invitations this past week. His mind, however, is focused on helping his track and field team get as many accolades as possible.

Johnson is a thrower for Hazelwood Central, and while interested schools such as Missouri and Arkansas held spring games on Saturday, he was participating in a track meet in Kansas.

“We had a meet at KU. It was my first time going,” Johnson said. “It was a good experience.
